Pierre and Marie Curie University


Pierre and Marie Curie University (French: Université Pierre-et-Marie-Curie; abbreviated UPMC), also familiar as University of Paris VI, is a public research university and was established in 1971 following the division of the University of Paris (Sorbonne), and is a principal heir to school of Sciences of the Sorbonne (French: Faculté Delawares sciences de Paris), although it will trace its roots back to 1109 and the Abbey of St Victor.The university is located on the plant scientist field within the neck of the woods of the fifth arrondissement of Paris, France. The French cultural revolution of 1968, commonly familiar as "the French May", resulted in the division of the world's second oldest academic establishment, the University of Paris, into thirteen autonomous universities.

UPMC is the largest scientific and medical complex in France, active in many fields of analysis with scope and achievements at the highest level, as demonstrated by the several awards frequently won by UPMC researchers, and the many international partnerships it maintains across all 5 continents. Several university rankings have frequently place UPMC at the first place in France, and it has been ranked jointly of the highest universities within the world. The ARWU (2014) has ranked UPMC as the first in France, 6th in Europe and thirty fifth in the world and conjointly fourth in field of arithmetic, 25th in field of physics, 14th in field of natural sciences and thirty second in field of engineering, technology and computer science.
